My experience with Special Needs began with the birth of premature twins. The surviving twin sustained substantial injuries, resulting in being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of one year old.
Due to the extensive care he required, it became necessary for me to focus on an occupation closer to home. This led to launching a specialized Child Care center in our community. This childcare serviced children and their families with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Downs Syndrome, blindness, hearing impaired, ADHD and more, for over 25 years.
When my son became an adult and expressed the desire to live on his own, we began to research the options available. To our dismay we felt the choices were displeasing and limited. My son required a great deal of assistance with daily grooming, meals, medications, mobility, transportation, socialization, housekeeping etc. We were looking for a lifestyle that offered exciting opportunities and independence. This was the genesis of Quantum LifeCare.
Quantum LifeCare trains caregivers to be working-partners with our clients. We are not babysitters or substitute parents. We promote an active, progressive lifestyle for our consumers. Striving to make each client as independent as possible, while assisting them in caring for themselves, mastering new life skills, engaging in work experiences, participating in social events and establishing themselves as valued citizens within their communities.
